An open door to everyone!

We want to build a deeper relationship with our community to see lives transformed through Jesus every day across the bay.

We run a Community Hub from our Bournemouth Citygate Centre throughout the week, providing support for people struggling socially, financially, with their health…and more! We do this through a partnership of local agencies, charities and churches in Bournemouth.

Community Hub opening times:

2-4pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays (except for public holidays)

You can see a list of all our Hub agencies below. There may be something that inspires you, or something that you think could help you! If you’ve got any questions at all, drop us an email at hub@citygate.church.

Community Hub testimonies

  • Malcolm, Hub Visitor

I’m ex-military. I used to have it all. When I came here I had nothing. I did give up. When I met you all, you said, ‘Come, we’re going to help you.’ I’ve been at the lowest point of my life, and you never turned me away. You called a local GP surgery, and you made sure I had my prescription for my asthma. I remember I came in with no food, and went home with so much food! I am now registered with a GP; I have a dentist, because you never turned me away. You helped me get help for the alcohol. I tell you, my drinking slowed by 80% because of your help.

  • James, Hub Visitor

I am in recovery from alcohol and gambling addiction. I got to the point about a year and a half ago where I lost everything, I had been declared bankrupt, my life was a mess and I needed to re-build from the bottom up. Since being in recovery, the food bank and my case worker has helped me with this tremendously. Not only did they provide me with much needed food when I was at my most desperate, they also provided me with some structure, a way of giving back. Thanks to the food bank I volunteer at a local food kitchen on a weekly basis. I'm so grateful to everyone to have been given a second chance.

  • Catherine, Hub Visitor

So grateful for the support I received from the food bank in citygate. I and my husband were down to our last penny, I walked into the food bank desperate and hungry but the ongoing support I got from the support workers was life saving. I was hopeless financially and had attempted to take my life a few days before, not only did I get support until my husband and I were able to get a job, I also got emotional support from the support workers who worked with other agencies towards my recovery. Thank you for saving lives and feeding the hungry.

  • Stuart, Hub Visitor

After finding myself homeless 4 months ago, not only did I feel isolated, I felt lost and hungry. I was directed to the Citygate Church for help with food parcels as my benefits were on hold while they sorted out my supported housing benefit. The staff at Citygate made the journey of gaining vital provisions dignified and gave me hope and direction and actually listened to my plights and gave me a will to succeed. I have now received notice that my benefits are sorted and I now longer require the food banks help, but I will never forget the help they gave me and how people I never knew, treated me as one of their own.

Why and how do we help others?

We extend love to each other because God first loved us. He showed His love by sending His son Jesus to Earth to die for our sins. Here on Earth, Jesus’ mandate was to help the poor, heal the sick and set the oppressed free. We continue the mission of Jesus, offering hope to all - no matter their circumstance - by sharing the Good News and by loving each other.

  • 1. Relief

We look to meet the immediate needs of those who come to our Hub. This might include relief from food insecurity, loneliness and isolation or debt.

  • 2. Restore

We aim to give a help up, not just a hand out! The Hub looks to ensure that visitors are receiving the long-term support they need to regain a good quality of life.

  • 3. Reform

We want to work with others towards social change, helping to shape a society more in-keeping with the way the Bible teaches us to live.

Our social action ministries

As well as our weekday Community Hub, our church runs other ministries that share the gospel and impact our community in a positive way. Click on the images below to find out more about each social action project - and how you might get involved!

We’re always looking for volunteers

Our Community Hub and social action ministries are always looking for volunteers. Check the individual ministry pages for more info or head straight to our Volunteer Application form.

Give to our social action projects

Our social action ministries require regular giving in order to reach and support as many people as possible. We welcome any financial gifts, large or small, to help keep us going as we serve our community.

Our Missional Partners

We know that we can reach more people with the Good News of Christ and have an even greater impact on our community by working with others. So we serve alongside and support a number of missional partners to help transform as many lives as possible!

  • Serving

Here at Citygate, there are many ministries and teams that could help you grow spiritually, while applying and developing your own gifts and talents alongside others. It’s also a great way to make new friends!

  • Giving

Regular giving to Citygate is an investment into all of our ministries, in order to reach those who don’t know Jesus yet, and to make disciples.
